Samsung SFG-D0100

Description

Samsung SFG-D0100 is Samsung’s first 5G home router which brings next-generation wireless services into homes and offices. As a millimeter wave-based wireless router is expected to be used with Verizon 5G network in USA, SFG-D0100 5G mmWave Router includes 64 antennas across a beamforming 2×2 MIMO array, including 27.5GHz to 28.35GHz millimeter wave support, plus Bluetooth LE — but apparently no integrated 802.11 functionality, suggesting that it will require a separate Wi-Fi router, like some cable modems. Samsung warns users to keep the devices at least eight inches away from people, in compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines.

In Verizon’s commercial trial experiment, the fixed 5G broadband can provide a downlink speed exceeding 1.4Gbps and a 600Mbps uplink rate at a distance of 1000 feet (304.8 meters). In the range of 1000 to 2000 feet (304.8 to 609.6 meters), it is also possible to provide a downlink rate of less than 1.4Gbps and an upstream rate of more than 400Mbps. For a connection beyond 2000 feet (609.6 meters), the maximum downstream speed can also exceed 1Gbps. Samsung SFG-D0100 5G router would help the leading U.S. carrier to offer “fixed 5G” — high-speed wireless service that can solely be accessed at a home or office using a cable modem-like device — which it believes will challenge cable Internet and TV providers.
